Historique :	Objet mobilier découvert sous le choeur de l'église lors de la réfection du plancher en 1851 (voir schéma d'emplacement par le curé Chavoutier daté du 14 janvier 1851). Il proviendrait de l'ancienne chapelle castrale du château archiépiscopal Saint-Jacques. Placé dans le choeur lors de la reconstruction de l'église en 1655-1658, il est déplacé dans le jardin du presbytère puis contre le mur de l'église après 1938. D'après la tradition locale, le sarcophage aurait servi de sépulture à l'archevêque-comte de Tarentaise Rodolphe II de Chissé (1381-1385), assassiné par Pierre de Comblou dit Reliour en décembre 1385 au château épiscopal Saint-Jacques.
