Précision_sur la representation :	L'intérieur de la caisse abrite cinq figures sculptées qui se détachent en moyen-relief sur fond plat. Au centre la Vierge est assise sur un gradin rectangulaire évoquant un siège. Elle soutient le buste inerte de son fils dans le creux de son bras dextre tandis, que de sa main senestre, elle retient ses jambes. De part et d'autre de ce groupe se dresse deux figures en pied de plus petites dimensions. Le personnage masculin à dextre représente saint Jean l'évangéliste portant un livre. le personnage féminin tenant un linge à senestre représente sainte Marie-Madeleine. Un ange ailé, représenté à mi-corps prend place dans l'angle supérieur senestre de la caisse et montre la scène de ses bras tendus. Un second ange ailé lui faisait pendant dans l'angle opposé.
